What Flooring is Best for Allergies?

Allergy

I've heard it said before that floors such as hardwood or ceramic are best for allergies and asthma. It's sounds very logical really, because we all know carpet will trap dust. However the truth is that carpet isn't bad for allergies or asthma and in fact it maybe better then other choices.

The fact is that since carpet is trapping dust it's actually resulting in less dust floating around to be breathed in. As long as you vacuum regularly you should have a better air quality over all.

Here at Wholesale Carpets and Flooring we have a ton of hard surfaces choices, not just hardwood and ceramic. We also carry laminates, vinyl, cork, and bamboo. I want to stress here that neither carpet or hard surface floors are "bad for allergies" and the difference between the them in air quality is small. Carpet was just getting a bad rap here and we wanted to clear things up.

Stop in anytime and let us help you pick the best flooring for your home and family.

Free

"There's no sure thing as a free lunch".  "If it's free, it's not for me". These saying were created to warn us to beware of free. It's interesting that even with this sage advice being common knowledge some marketing people still make a living selling free.

"Buy one room of flooring, get the second free'. "Free padding and installation". "Free take up and haul away of your old flooring".

So what's going on here? In my opinion, this is a company insulting your intelligence. Compare the competition with all the free stuff to our bottom line price and our price is lower in most cases. Basically, it means your paying for all that free stuff somewhere.

When your shopping for new flooring most companies don't charge you to come out and measure the job. I encourage you to get it measured and get the bottom line price from each place. We do this everyday and you'll find there's no such thing as free.

Here at Wholesale Carpets & Flooring there's no deceptive sales or marketing ploys. Just the lowest bottom line price guaranteed.

What Will That Carpet Look Like Next Year?

Tufted

Carpet construction matters!

Continuous Filament. Those are the most important words to look for when buying carpet. Marketing people want to make it sound like the quality of carpet comes from the fiber it's made of or the stain protection it has on it. The truth is those things won't have any visible effect for the average consumer. These days almost all carpets both Nylon and Polyester are stain protected and soft. The thing that will make the difference between a carpet that performs and one that flops is the construction of the carpet.

The good news is the the construction of the carpet is something you can see and feel. How easily can you dig your fingers in the carpet and how many twists to each tuft have? Even the backing of the carpet is easy to look and and see if it's quality. The smaller the squares on the backing the better it is. What about this continuous filament then? This one is a little harder to see or feel. One test you can do is to rub the carpet and see if you get any fuzz. If your getting fuzz it's probably not a continuous filament and as I said in the beginning continuous filament is the most important thing to look for.

Stop in today and let us show you the difference between a quality carpet at a great price and the truly cheap carpets you'll find else where.

Going Green

Green

At Wholesale Carpets we've made green a priority. We have replaced some of the few lights in our showroom that were incandescent with low energy compact florescent. We also feature several products that are green. Renewable resource products like our hardwoods, and even carpet that is made from a corn product, are just the beginning. We also feature many carpets that are made from recycled content or are a recyclable product. You have to do your homework to be green, as there are some common misconceptions about green flooring. For instance, bamboo flooring is considered green because it's fast growing and renewable, but bamboo is a very thin product and the glues and other chemicals used the make the thin pieces into flooring are very bad for the environment, so really a standard red oak floor is more green, more economical and tougher then a bamboo flooring . If your goal is green flooring come to wholesale carpets and talk to the experts.
